About a couple of months ago I was struggling with depression. Initially I didn’t pay much attention to it, I thought it was just a seasonal, autumn thing – I get that every now and then, when the days start getting shorter, and I feel sleepy all the time. But I also noticed some unusual hair loss, so I went to see my hairstylist, who told me to see a nutritionist, as she suspected these were both vitamin D deficiency symptoms. (Am I the only one using the hairstylist as a physician and a therapist? Seriously, this girl can say if I’ve been eating right or not just by looking at my hair – why can’t doctors do that instead of all those blood tests?)
So, long story short, the nutritionist confirmed the vitamin D deficiency, and prescribed some supplements. I’ve been taking them regularly since – this is my third week – and I don’t feel any better. I don’t know if they haven’t kicked in yet, or maybe that just wasn’t the problem to begin with, and I should go see a real doctor.
